London League Round 14 Herne Hill Stadium (06.02.11)

On the 6th February 2011 I arrived at Herne Hill Veledrone for the last series points counting round of the  London Cyclo-cross League. I got a good start, as I was in the top 5, then the race split into 3 groups; race winner Josh Parkin, another group being Ashley Dennis (2nd place) and the third group containing me, Liam Cowell and Chris McGovern.

As we entered the single track section of the course, Chris, who was leading at the time, had a wash out at one of the corners. I took the opportunity and make a break from him. It was now Liam Cowell and I, we raced with each other for a long while, until he overtook me and I never caught back up.

4th place would generally be a good result for me, but prior to the event I had worked out that if I had a podium at this last race, then I would get 2nd in the series, but I got  4th, so I got 3rd in the series. This was none the less a good overall result as a first year under 16, but knowing that I was about 2 or 3 points (one place) away from the 2nd place series spot is a bit annoying.

As you may have noticed, this report is a bit late and probably a bit shorter than most of the reports, this is because it's the end of the cross season and I am trying to concentrate on some mountain bike training, this for the up and coming Mountain Bike season, where I hope to get some good results.
